Trimlight Cost: The Price, and the Warranty Conditions

What the published rate includes

Trimlight is explicit that the per-foot figure is the full installed cost: hardware, installation by factory-trained technicians, system setup and the final walkthrough, with no separate labor line to budget on top. That is a more useful disclosure than it sounds, because the single most common way permanent lighting quotes stop being comparable is one bidder quoting material and another quoting installed.

The company names the same primary driver every brand in this category does: how many linear feet of channel are going up. Every foot of eave, gable, roofline and fascia you want lit adds to the total, and the coverage decision is yours to make. Bulb and spacing options and your local market move you inside the range.

The lifetime warranty, and the two conditions attached to it

Trimlight's published parts warranty covers material defects in the components that make the system work: bulbs, light strings, diodes, and the powder-coated finish on the aluminum, guaranteed against chipping, peeling, flaking and blistering under ordinary wear. The covered lifetime is defined against a 50,000 hour component lifespan. As published parts coverage in this category, it is the strongest of the four national brands.

The two conditions are where buyers get surprised. First, the warranty is issued to the original purchaser and is explicitly non-transferable. The system is a fixture and stays with the house when you sell, but the coverage does not go to the buyer. Second, registration is required within 30 days of installation, and Trimlight's own guidance is that failing to complete the form, or leaving questions unanswered, can delay a future claim or invalidate the warranty entirely. Put that registration on your calendar the day the crew leaves; it is the cheapest thirty minutes in the whole project.

The published exclusions are the ordinary ones and worth reading anyway: normal wear including sun fade on powder coat, improper installation or maintenance, misuse, electrical events such as surges and lightning, and non-approved parts or unauthorized modification.

Parts is not labor

A lifetime parts warranty and a lifetime service relationship are different products. Trimlight is a dealer-installed system, and labor coverage is set by the dealer rather than the manufacturer, with a one-year minimum commonly cited across the network.

That distinction decides what year four costs you. A covered diode that arrives free still needs somebody on a ladder to seat it, and if labor coverage lapsed in year two, that visit is billed. When you compare Trimlight against a brand with shorter parts coverage, put both labor warranties next to both parts warranties before concluding which is longer, because the two columns often run in opposite directions.

Where Trimlight sits against the others

On published starting price it is the lowest of the four national brands, beginning at $18 per linear foot where JellyFish begins at $25. On published warranty terms it is the most specific and the most generous on parts. Gemstone publishes no price at all and EverLights publishes prices only for its DIY kits.

None of that decides your job. The ranges overlap so heavily above $25 that two dealers of different brands quoting your actual roofline will often land within a few hundred dollars of each other, at which point the deciding factors are the ones no brand page covers: who measured honestly, who put the electrical assumption in writing, and who answers the phone in the third week of December.
